ב־30 במרץ 2018 החלו הפלסטינים ברצועת עזה בסדרת הפגנות המוניות בסמוך לגדר הגבול עם ישראל. הן כינו אותן "צעדות השיבה הגדולה".
עבודת הווידאו של רועי, שהוצגה בעדות מקומית 2019, מוצגת כעת שוב כדימוי מבשר אסון.
בבוקר השבת הארורה הספיק הצלם רועי עידן לצאת מביתו בקיבוץ כפר עזה כשהחלו האזעקות ולתעד את רחפני המחבלים בשמי הקיבוץ. רועי ורעייתו סמדר נרצחו, בתם הפעוטה אביגיל נחטפה לעזה ושני ילדיהם הנוספים, עמליה ומיכאל, נותרו לבדם ושרדו.

في 30 آذار 2018 بدأ الفلسطينيون في قطاع غزة سلسلة من المظاهرات الحاشدة قرب السياج الحدودي مع إسرائيل. أطلقوا عليها اسم "مسيرات العودة الكبرى".
الفيديو الذي صوّره روعي، والذي تم عرضه في إفادة محلية لعام 2019، يُعرض هنا مرة أخرى كصورة تنذّر بكارثة.
في صباح يوم السبت المشؤوم، خرج المصوّر روعي عيدان من منزله في كيبوتس كفار عزّة عندما بدأت صفارات الإنذار من أجل توثيق الطائرات الشراعية للإرهابيين في سماء الكيبوتس. روعي وزوجته سمدار قُتلا، ابنتهما الرضيعة أفيجايل اختُطفت إلى غزة، وطفلاهما الآخران، عماليا وميخائيل، بقوا بمفردهما ونجوا.

On 30 March, 2018, Palestinians in the Gaza strip began a series of mass demonstrations next to the border fence with Israel. They called it “The Great March of Return”.
Roee’s video work, which was exhibited in Local Testimony 2019, is exhibited here again as an image foretelling doom.
On the morning of that accursed Saturday the photographer Roee Idan had time to leave his home in Kfar Aza as the sirens began to wail and documented the terrorists on hang-gliders above the kibbutz. Roee and his wife Smadar were murdered, their baby daughter Abigail was taken hostage to Gaza and their other two children, Amalia and Michael, remained behind alone and survived.
May their memory be a blessing.
